Christine McHugh took her Mayoral campaign to De Montfort University last Friday to welcome new students at the Freshers Fair. Christine was supported by Matthew Green MP (Liberal Democrat, Ludlow), Youth & Students Spokesperson.

Christine McHugh said "The University is very important for our Borough and the students will be citizens here for a number of years, some choosing to stay here after their studies. I was very pleased by the support I received."

"The Face" magazine recently reported that the Liberal Democrats are the most popular party with students who like our green agenda and our policy to abolish tuition fees which Liberal Democrats have already achieved for Scottish students."

"I was lucky enough to be educated by government grants and I have tremendous sympathy for today's students who are not so fortunate and for those deterred from further study by the prospect of finishing college with a huge debt."

"My campaign has now been visited by 3 Lib Dem MPs showing how seriously we are taking this election and that we are on the verge of a tremendous victory."

Over the last few weeks, Christines campaign in Bedford has been visted and supported by: Dorothy Thornhill, Lib Dem Executive Mayor of Watford Lembit Opik MP - To launch manifesto Matthew Green MP - at freshers fair David Rendel MP - campaigning in NE Beds
