www.bedfordlibdems.org.uk will be first with all the news as the Bedford Borough Council election results come in on Friday

There are just four days to go before crucial elections for the new Bedford Borough Unitary authority and the Eastern Region's MEP's take place on Thursday. www.bedfordlibdems.org.uk is the place to be to follow all the latest news as the Liberal Democrats press for electoral success, with the local election results updated live as results are announced on Friday.

All seats on the Bedford Borough Unitary Authority are up for grabs, with a reduced number of 36 Councillors across 26 wards to be elected. The Liberal Democrats hold 15 of the current 54 council seats, and are well-placed for success in Thursday's election. Since becoming a unitary authority on April 1st the council has taken on important new responsibilities such as education, children's and adult social care and highways maintenance. Don't forget to use your vote on Thursday to have your say on who will do the best job in representing local residents on the council. Counting for the council election will take place on Friday, and www.bedfordlibdems.org.uk is the place to be for all the latest results news. This site will be updated throughout the day as results come in and the complexion of the council becomes clearer.

Voting in the contest to elect the Eastern region's 7 MEPs also takes place on Thursday. The Liberal Democrats require a three per cent swing to get former Bedford Borough Councillor Linda Jack elected as its second Eastern Region MEP. Linda hopes to join Andrew Duff in representing the interests of local people in the European Parliament as part of a Liberal Democrat team which will work through the European Union to ensure:

  • A stronger economy, more jobs and more opportunity for businesses
  • More action to stop climate change and protect the environment.
  • More criminals are caught, such as terrorists, gangsters and paedophile networks, and our civil liberties are upheld.
