New tax year hits millions - Liberal Democrats the only party offering fair taxes for all

With the new tax year heralding a real-terms tax increase for millions, Henry Vann is backing the plans of Vince Cable and the Liberal Democrats for fair taxes for all

The new tax year began this week, freezing the tax bands, creating a real terms tax increase in tax for millions of people.

Henry Vann, Bedford and Kempston's Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, has criticised Labour's decision to hit hard working people with a real terms increase.

"This is a disappointing day for millions of hard working families as they see a real terms increase in tax.

"Our plans, to give almost every family and hard-working individual £700 back a year will benefit everyone on low and middle incomes, and will re-balance our tax system to make it more progressive, and fairer. We are the only party offering fair taxes for all, lifting some of the poorest out of paying tax altogether.

"Meanwhile, the Conservatives are offering an unfunded tax cut without coming clean on where the money will come from. This is on top of their inheritance tax cut for millionaires and the super rich.

"If you want to cut taxes for the many, rather than an inheritance-tax cut for millionaires, then the Liberal Democrats are the party for you at this election."
