Councillors go Twitter!

July 7, 2010 12:00 AM

Liberal Democrat Councillors on Bedford Borough Council are all joining Twitter and you can follow them and their thoughts on events as they happen. The Twitter account: @BedfordLibDems has been set up to create a quick-fire comments page for all fourteen Liberal Democrats on Bedford Borough Council, including Mayor Dave Hodgson.

So far, Cllr Nick Charsley, Leader of the Group and Member for Harrold Ward, has commented on everything from the proposed Police merger to the extra salt from Sweden. Other Councillors have also commented on tackling racism, offering orange recycling bags for free and they've even re-tweeted comments about the coalition. Re-tweeting is where you like someone else's comment and post it on so people watching out for your comments can see it too.

Cllr Nick Charsley said, "Both the Mayor and a number of Liberal Democrat Councillors have individual Twitter accounts but we thought it would be good to have a central account where people could follow all Bedford Liberal Democrat Councillors at the same time."

Note:

Mayor Dave Hodgson also has an account @DavetheMayor

Cllr Nick Charsley has one at @NickCharsley
