September 24, 2002 12:00 AM

Bedford Liberal Democrats have been awarded the Liberal Democrat Award for "Best Innovation 2002" for their website www.bedfordlibdems.org

Presented the award by Lord Rennard, Liberal Democrat Director of Campaigns, the Bedford Lib Dem webmaster Tim Prater was delighted to accept the award on behalf of the Party. The award for innovation was due to the "News from the National Lib Dems" section of the Bedford site, which automatically uppdates the Bedford site with news from the main party website.

Christine McHugh - Liberal Democrat candidate for Bedford Mayor - has been at Party conference and was delighted to see Bedford winning the award.

Christine said:

"Bedford Lib Dems has been at the forefront of ecampaigning in Bedford, with a massive amount of information, news, ways to contact us and online polls - we're certainly Bedford's most wired political party. It's great to receive recognition of that from the national Lib Dems too!"
