The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, is urging the public to get involved and have their say on the latest plans to transform Bedford.

On Wednesday 3rd & Thursday 4th November, Bedford's Harpur Suite will be hosting the latest Town Centre Consultation Exhibition.

This exhibition offers an ideal opportunity for residents and businesses to have their say on future regeneration and transport plans and help shape exciting plans to restore and improve Bedford Town Centre.

The current economic climate has affected levels of investment across the country; inevitably leading to the delay of some schemes in Bedford Borough. However, the Council is continuing to push forward with the regeneration of the area as well as proposals to significantly improve the borough's transport infrastructure.

In particular the council is interested in local views on the latest key schemes involving the Bus Station area, the Railway Station Quarter as well as developing exciting plans for new sites such as Riverside North (Town Hall Complex and Riverside Square) and the High Street.

Bedford Borough Council also wants to find out about the public's vision for transport by seeking views on the Local Transport Plan. This plan runs until 2021 and deals with all transport infrastructure in the borough and opinions collected from this exhibition will help to shape future transport plans. For example, would you like to see a new river crossing in the town centre? Or would extra investment be better served in more sustainable transport?

In addition, there will also be the opportunity to influence the economic development priorities of the Council and its partners.

Staff will be on hand throughout both days to answer any questions and to discuss the plans. All views will be welcome and will help to guide the transformation.

Mayor Dave Hodgson wants to hear your vies on Bedford's future

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said "The regeneration of Bedford town centre is a key priority for the council. Despite the impact of the economic climate we are working hard to make these exciting schemes a reality, bringing new life and vitality to Bedford town centre.

"Similarly, we are absolutely committed to improving the transport infrastructure in the borough. That is why we are pressing ahead with plans to finish the 'missing link' with the second phase of the Bedford Western bypass.

"To achieve these goals it is absolutely vital we work with local residents and businesses and get their ideas to help gain a clearer understanding of their priorities for the area.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to help shape the future of the borough and I urge as many people as possible to get involved and have their say."
