Lib Dems Request BCCG Answers on the Closure of Putnoe Walk-In Centre

January 24, 2018 9:48 AM

Putnoe Med CentreBedford Borough Liberal Democrats are asking the Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group to re-consider their decision to close the Putnoe Walk In Centre.

A letter has been sent to the Chair, Dr Alvin Low, of Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) requesting answers to the BCCG decision to close Putnoe Walk-In Centre.

You can read the letter here:

Liberal Democrats want to know:

1) With services closing instead of opening, Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats would like to know the intentions of the BCCG for Primary Care in Bedford Borough

2) Why has a decision been taken to look at an Urgent Treatment Centre on Bedford Hospital Site which is already working over-capacity and has little if any car parking spaces for residents to access health services.

3) Why did the BCCG stop communicating with Bedford Borough Ward Councillors when Councillors were informed at Scrutiny Committee that a review was taking place in November 2017 to look at options regarding Putnoe Walk In Centre.

4) Why a decision to close a primary healthcare site has not gone through scrutiny and consultation with the public?

Bedford Borough needs a walk-in centre at Putnoe as well as a Urgent Treatment Centre to alleviate the waiting times at A&E and help Bedford Hospital deal with the demands of acute care.
