Chancellor wrong to go after the cash strapped self-employed

September 10, 2018 12:00 PM

MoneyResponding to the news that the Conservative Government is scrapping its pledge to abolish Class 2 National Insurance, hitting millions of workers by £150, Liberal Democrats Health Spokesperson Judith Jolly said "The Chancellor is wrong to go after the cash strapped self-employed. It is a desperate attempt to pinch pennies for the NHS. Instead, the Government needs a long-term funding plan. The Liberal Democrats are the only party with a serious plan for the NHS. We would raise money immediately by putting a penny in the pound on income tax, and guarantee its long-term funding through a new dedicated health and care tax."
