Bedford Branch of the Royal Anglian Regiment (Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire) Reunion and Remembrance EventThe Bedford Branch of the Royal Anglian Regiment Association (Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire) held its Remembrance and Reunion Event in Kempston on Sunday 18th November. The event was described by Mayor Dave Hodgson as 'a very special and poignant occasion'.

With a large number of members of the public watching on, a parade from the Keep to the Kempston War Memorial across the road was followed by a Remembrance and wreath laying service.

The Bishop of Bedford was in attendance at what was the last time the event will be held on the Sunday following Remembrance Sunday. From 2019, it will instead take place in August and will correspond to the anniversary of the Battle of Blenheim, for which the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment was awarded battle honours.

Following the service and salute, there was a short unveiling ceremony for a new plaque in the Memorial Garden behind the War Memorial, with a blessing given by the Bishop.

Commenting on Facebook following the event, Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "Truly an honour to attend and be a part of the Bedford Branch of the Royal Anglian Regiment Association (Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire) Remembrance and Reunion Event in Kempston earlier today. Always a very special and poignant occasion, with lots of people in attendance as we showed our appreciation of those who have served on behalf of all of us, and paid tribute to those who have lost their lives in service.'

"Lest we forget."
