Queuing Traffic on the Approach to the Black Cat RoundaboutHighways England are launching a supplementary consultation on A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet improvements.

The consultation will open on Wednesday 24 June and run until Tuesday 28 July 2020. You will be able to find all the consultation materials, including the virtual consultation room via www.highwaysengland.co.uk/a428.

Mayor Dave Hodgson and Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have long campaigned for this vital scheme to ease congestion and provide relief for long-suffering motorists. The project will see the route between Bedford and Cambridge become fully dualled, and will separate the A428 from the A1, meaning they no longer meet at the Black Cat junction. For more detail of the scheme see the link to Highways England's webpage for the project above.

This consultation is an opportunity for people to give the Highways Agency their views on the main changes made to the scheme in response to feedback from the consultation last year, further design development and environmental assessments.

These changes are a combination of refinements to the design, methods of construction and changes to the use and extent of the land needed to build, maintain and operate the road.
