River Festival 2021 logoRiver Festival 2020 had been scheduled for this weekend, before the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic forced its postponement until 2021. In his latest email update, Mayor Dave Hodgson has written about how he's already looking forward to River Festival 2021 and is determined to make it the best ever.

You can sign up to receive regular emails from Mayor Dave here, and in the meantime here are his thoughts on what would have been River Festival weekend:

This weekend would have been River Festival Weekend. Sadly we have had to postpone this until 2021 due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

I am sure you will understand, with 250,000 visitors expected over the weekend it would have been impossible for the event to be run safely.

However, we do have a date for 2021 and it is now exactly one year away! River Festival 2021 will return on 17 and 18 July 2021.

I have recorded a short video, which you can see here.

I am determined that River Festival 2021 will be our best ever with a multitude of events and attractions taking place over the weekend. There will be numerous river activities, five live music and performance stages, raft and dragon boat races along with a continental market and much much more.
