£583,700 for School Sports in Bedford Borough

15 Apr 2013

The Government has announced a £583,700 boost for school sports in Bedford Borough from September. Every state primary school in Bedford Borough will receive funding for sports in 2013/14 and 2014/15, including:

  • Approximately £10,200 for Newnham Middle School
  • Approximately £9,370 for Castle Lower School

The funding is the equivalent of around two days a week of a primary teacher's time to provide more sport for their pupils. A typical primary school with 250 pupils would receive £9,250 per year.

This money means that children in Bedford Borough will be able to take part in sport in primary schools, which can help to build confidence, understand teamwork and above all, stay healthy.
