Climate change is a global issue and one that your local Lib Dems feel very strongly about; Bedford Borough Council has been nationally recognized for its hard work to combat climate change with a Public Sector Sustainability Award.

This week is Climate Week; this is a national campaign to inspire a new wave of action on climate change, with thousands of events and activities taking place throughout the week of 4th to 10th March 2013. Showcasing real, practical ways to combat climate change, the campaign aims to renew our ambition to create a more sustainable, low-carbon future.

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: "Climate Week is an excellent national campaign to encourage everyone to take action to combat climate change and reduce our impact on the environment.

"Bedford Borough Council is working hard to reduce its carbon emissions by 40% by 2015 and is also offering real support to help local residents reduce their impact as well."

The Council will also be running internal staff activities during the week to raise awareness of what staff can do to be more sustainable at work and at home.
