Cllr Tim Hill calls for Support for Stewartby Campaign
O&H Properties have applied to build 6 houses on land behind Stewartby United Church in Park Crescent, but this application was refused by the Borough Council's Planning Committee.
The Planning Committee refused the application on the basis of the sites allocation as an 'Important Open Space' in the 2002 Local Plan, and because of its designation as a 'Village Open Space' in the Draft Allocations and Designations Plan.
O&H Properties have lodged an appeal against this refusal with the Planning Inspectorate.
Lib Dem Cllr Tim Hill is campaigning with his residents against this application.
Tim objected to the application by arguing that the land had been declared a Village Open Space and has been well used by Stewartby residents for recreation and leisure since the village was built in 1920s.
He has also argued that, as the Stewartby Park development of over 700 houses is planned to be started within the next 12 months, there is no demonstrable need for any further housing of this type in the village.
Tim said "None of these facts have changed since the Committee refused the application. I will continue to campaign to ensure that the Planning Inspector upholds the decision and that all of these issues are given the proper and weighty consideration that they deserve."
Tim added "I would like to encourage any residents who feel strongly about this application to write to the Inspector at 3/109 Temple Quay House 2 The Square Temple Quay Bristol BS1 6PN in support of the decision to refuse this application, quote application reference APP/K0235/A/13/2192863. Support the campaign to stop O&H building more houses in Stewartby".
