Cllr Tim Hill
Cllr Tim Hill, Elstow and Stewartby ward

Covanta Incinerator

- This has been the biggest news by far affecting Stewartby since my last report in August. I have personally lobbied the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change pressing for this awful decision to be over-turned. I have not received any responses any type. I have offered my help to the spontaneous group of people opposing the Incinerator that recently met at The Chequers.

Borough Council

- The consultation to help Bedford Borough Council deliver £36millon of savings in the next four years closes on Monday 21st November at 5pm. Bedford Borough Council, like all local authorities, is facing an unprecedented challenge to overcome a significant shortfall in funding while continuing to provide vital public services for local residents. The Modernisation Programme contains 206 proposals, across all Council directorates, and aims to deliver £36million of savings over the next four years, in the context of a net budget of £129million. Over 2,000 people have responded to the consultation so far and the Council is encouraging anyone who has not yet responded to do so before the consultation closes on Monday evening. All responses must be received by the Council by 5pm on Monday 21st November. Responses will then be considered by the Council Executive on 7th December before the final budget is discussed in February next year. You can respond to the consultation in the following ways:

- At John's request, I have cancelled the £3k contribution towards the cost of the "safety features" forStewartby Wayand replaced it with a £2.7k bid towards the Village Hall loft insulation.

Ward Name

- The Liberal Democrat Group Researcher has on my behalf, formally written to the Borough's senior electoral services officer requesting that the Ward Name be officially changed to "Elstow and Stewartby".

Manor Road, Kempston Hardwick.

- Residents have been in contact with me raising the issue of the now over 200 cars a day that now use this road. One has volunteered to build a formal log for me to use as evidence withCllr Charles Royden.
