Don't Forget to Vote in Today's Crucial Elections!

4 Jun 2009

With polls open until 10pm tonight, don't forget to vote in today's crucial local and European elections. The Liberal Democrats are fighting to win seats in urban and rural areas across the Borough in the important elections for the new unitary Bedford Borough Council, which faces the task of turning around many years of high-taxing Tory failure on the County Council. Meanwhile, the issues the Lib Dems have been fighting on in the European elections include action to tackle cross-border crime and terrorism and climate change. Make your vote count in today's two vital elections!

All thirty six Council seats on the unitary authority are up for election. The Liberal Democrats have identified 'Six to Fix' priority areas and have fought a powerful campaign focused on the action needed to help create a Borough of opportunity that is a great place to live, work, study, visit and do business.

Voting in the contest to elect the Eastern region's 7 MEPs is also taking place today. The Liberal Democrats require a three per cent swing to get former Bedford Borough Councillor Linda Jack elected as its second Eastern Region MEP.

Visit www.bedfordlibdems.org.uk tomorrow for all the latest results news from the Bedford Borough Council election count as results are announced. The count begins at 9.30am, with the first results expected later on in the morning, and then through the afternoon.
