Goldington Green Improvements!

7 Dec 2011

Improvement works are being carried out on Goldington Green. This is for

two purposes: to erect low wooden posts around the perimeter of the

green, to keep vehicles off, and to re-arrange the playground area to

include a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).

The posts were deemed to be necessary to protect the green following the

large number of unauthorised encampments that have occurred in recent

years. The MUGA is being installed first. The existing play facilities will

remain, but some will need to be moved to fit in the MUGA. Once the

playground is finished the posts will be installed. Access for authorised

vehicles will be via a lockable removable post near The Lodge. These

works should be completed by Christmas.

As Goldington Green is a protected area of common land and designated

village green the Borough Council has had to obtain permission from

central government for these works, and this was finally granted in the

summer of this year.
