Goldington Green Protected!

20 Dec 2011

Bedford Borough Council has just completed works around Goldington Green that should see the protected green is now safe from illegal encampments. New posts have gone up around the green, an area of common land with village green status, after the Council received permission from the Government to do the works.

As well as the existing play area there is now a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) installed which means that the Green at Goldington is not only protected but also more attractive for local families to use.

Cllr Sylvia Gillard, Liberal Democrat Goldington ward, said "Having the protective bollards around the green will stop the illegal encampments that have blighted the area and make the green a safe and family friendly place."

Cllr Phil Merryman, Liberal Democrat Goldington ward, added "Now that the games area has been enhanced there is more for families and young people to do and this will be a great benefit to local residents."
