Helping to Make Bedford Borough Council Greener
As part of the Liberal Democrat's commitment to reducing the Council's carbon footprint by an aspirational 40% by 2015, Bedford Borough Council has again been supporting Green Office Week.
Green Office Week runs from the 14th to 18th May and includes fun and practical ideas to help offices to work in more sustainable ways. Each day during Green Office Week is themed, and raises awareness of the different ways we can all be greener and reduce our impact on the environment.
The national campaign also includes local Dragon's Den star Max McMurdo, who will lead a fun junk modelling competition designed to engage all office workers across the country, with the opportunity to win one of his recycled trolley chairs.
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: "We are committed to reducing the borough's carbon emissions and have set an aspirational target of a 40% reduction by 2015. We can only achieve this by working with staff and local residents to encourage them to change their behaviour.
"Reducing our impact on the environment not only helps to look after our environment, but also saves the Borough Council money.
"Green Office Week is an excellent opportunity to learn more about how we can improve our environment and save money through simple changes in our work and home lives."
Bedford Borough Council is promoting Green Office Week to its staff, with daily themed information based on its Green Office Guide, and is challenging them to make a real difference to the environment by making a few small, practical changes in their work place.
