Mayor Dave Hodgson has welcomed the progress at the site of the new B&Q store near the Kempston Interchange Retail Park. The new store is part of an £18.5 million develipment which will create 150 new jobs, and is yet another example of major employers investing in Bedford as Mayor Dave's campaign to bring jobs and economic groth continues. B&Q will open the new store later in 2013, and follows other major retailers such as Waitrose, Morrisons and Go Outdoors in choosing Bedford Borough for investment.

Dave said: "This major new investment in Bedford Borough is great news for jobs and growth. A B&Q in the Borough is also something that many people have told me they would like to see, so I'll be delighted to welcome the new store. The jobs created through this development are crucial, and while we look on with interest as the new buildings spring up we will continue the relentless push to bring more employment opportunities for residents locally."
