Letter from Cllr Tim Hill: Renaming Elstow Ward
Cllr Tim Hill has been campaigning to change the name of his ward from Elstow, to Elstow and Stewartby to better represent his residents. Please see the letter below for the latest update:
Dear Local Resident
You will remember that I have been campaigning to get the official name of our Council Ward changed from Elstow to Elstow and Stewartby. This much better reflects the contribution both parishes make to the Ward
I am extremely pleased to report that my proposal passed its first official hurdle tonight.
The Borough Council's General Purposes Committee meeting tonight unanimously passed my recommendation that the Ward should be renamed to Elstow and Stewartby.
It will now be submitted to the LGBCE (Local Government Boundary Commission for England), the central government quango that looks at these sort of issues, for its approval.
If that is received, the proposal will then be submitted to a Special Full Council Meeting of the Borough Council where it will need a two thirds majority to be passed into law.
We think this could all be done by sometime in March/April 2013.
Best wishes
Cllr Tim Hill
