Lib Dems tell the truth on public spending while other parties refuse to come clean - Vann

30 Jun 2009

Henry Vann, Liberal Democrat parliamentary campaigner has slammed the Government's Draft Legislative Programme as a big let down for Bedford and Kempston.

Henry Vann, Liberal Democrat parliamentary campaigner called on the Government to be honest about government spending, and called on the Conservatives to come clean about what they would cut.

Henry said: "The massive deficit facing the country can not be ignored, and yet the Government seem to be claiming that everything is fine in the Treasury. This was a chance for honesty, and it has been lost.

"Meanwhile, the Conservatives refuse to tell us what they would cut. Fewer police? Fewer schools? Fewer teachers, nurses and doctors?

"Only the Liberal Democrats are honest and explicit about scrapping ID Cards, opposing Trident, and directing benefits towards those most in need."
