Mayor Dave Hodgson will be at the Church Lane Neighbourhood Centre on Monday to mark the start of work on phase one of the redevelopment of the site. The developers Coplan Estates were appointed by the Borough Council in 2006, and local Liberal Democrat Ward Councillors from Goldington and Putnoe have pressed for the much-needed development to go ahead. Now phase one of the development, which will see a new food store and car parking at the site, is getting underway.

Commenting, Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "I am delighted that the regeneration of the Church Lane shopping area is getting underway. Once completed the development will provide an new and attractive shopping area for the local community. The new food store will allow residents to use the centre to do their shopping locally, while the redevelopment work will make the centre itself a more attractive place to visit. I know how hard local ward councillors have worked to get this scheme delivered, so it is very pleasing that work on the fist phase is now starting."
