Newnham Middle School....'Fosters A Love of Learning'
Another Bedford Borough school recently judged by Ofsted to be good is Newnham Middle School.
Ofsted's two-day inspection on the school was carried out with one day's notice on 15 - 16 October.
Inspectors gathered, and evaluated, a wide-range of evidence and each category assessed; Achievement of Pupils, Quality of Teaching, Behaviour and Safety of Pupils, and Leadership and Management, was awarded a good grade.
It was reported 'pupils are making good progress throughout the school. It is particularly fast in Years 7 and 8.'
Ofsted confirmed that 'teaching programmes are well-planned and sustain pupils' interest and foster a love of learning'
Ofsted also noted 'pupils are proud of their school and would recommend it to their friends' and 'the head teacher, governing body and key leaders have consistently high expectations for the school and are fully committed to school improvement through their relentless focus on raising standards'.
Lib Dem Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: "Congratulations to everyone involved in securing this outcome. Throughout Ofsted's report it is evident that the teachers are helping pupils to develop and thrive as individuals."
Head teacher, Maxine Warner, at Newnham Middle School, said: "I am very proud of the improvement in teaching and learning at our school. We have been well supported by the Council and have great links with them. Our pupils' have achieved impressive results and continue to experience excellent teaching."
