Local Lib Dem councillors David Sawyer and Henry Vann have been busy collecting signatures for a petition for Kimbolton Road to be resurfaced, and the Council has responded quickly and announced that the section of Kimbolton Road in De Parys ward will be resurfaced later in the summer. This is part of a series of major road resurfacing programmes that start in Bedford Borough later this month, covering a total of 38 roads as part of the Council's continuing commitment to investing in and improving the road network in Bedford Borough.

Welcoming the Council's decision, Henry Vann said: 'Local residents have been concerned for many years about the poor state of this major road. Although we have made sure that potholes are filled in, proper resurfacing is the only long term solution. I am delighted that Mayor Dave Hodgson is continuing the fight back against years of deterioration with another extensive programme of works.'

The work on the section between Pemberley Avenue and the Goldington Road gyratory will take place between 9and 13 July, and the section between Pemberley Avenue and Polhill Avenue between 17 and 20 July. Road closures will be notified to residents beforehand.
