Supporting the Elderly and Vulnerable

25 Feb 2013

Bedford Borough Council will continue to offer adult social care services required by the elderly and vulnerable, assessed with a care need at all of the 4 levels.

Access to adult social care is assess to one of 4 levels: critical, substantial, moderate and low.

Across Bedfordshire, and Milton Keynes, Bedford Borough Council is the only one to offer services to all four levels of assessment. In Central Beds services aren't offered to people assessed as low. Luton and Milton Keynes don't offer services to low or moderate levels.

Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats are determined to provide services to all those who may need them. This is the fairest system and, in the long-term, the cheapest.

Councillor Wendy Rider, Chair of Adult Services Scrutiny Committee said "This is a system to be proud of and I'm very pleased we are able to continue to provide this level of service. We are supporting people to stay in their homes, to live with the dignity they deserve and to receive the help they need."
