The Victorian Christmas Fair is Back this Weekend!

8 Dec 2011

If you have been in Bedford Town Centre today, it may have caught your attention that a helter skelter has popped up at the junction of Midland Road and Harpur Street, near Marks and Spencers. This can of course mean only one thing... that's right, the Victorian Christmas Fair is back, with a huge range of festive stalls and activities for the whole family from tomorrow through to Sunday 11th December.

Once again, there will also be a Continental Market along a temporarily pedestrianised High Street. We trialled this during last year's fair, which saw an average 56% increase in footfall over the three days of the Fair in that part of the town centre compared to 2009. This year, we're encouraging more stallholders to open their stalls onto the street, in order that people can enjoy browsing and spending time in the extra space for pedestrians this weekend.

We want Bedford Town Centre to thrive this Christmas, and I would encourage everyone to come and enjoy the fantastic festive atmosphere of the Victorian Fair this weekend.

Plus, don't forget that this week there's free parking in Council car parks after 3pm, funded by BedfordBID, so there's all the more reason to come and enjoy shopping in town.

Bedford Town Centre will be a vibrant and attractive place to be in the run up to Christmas, so why not get into town and enjoy the festivities, while supporting local businesses?
