Volunteer Fair In Bedford Town Centre- April 10th
For the first time, Bedford Borough Council is holding a Volunteer Fair in Bedford town centre on Tuesday 10th April.
A range of stalls will be in place outside the Harpur Suite offering everyone the opportunity to find out more information about volunteering and even have a go at volunteering on the day as well.
The stalls on the day include:
- Priory Country Park
- Harrold-Odell Country Park
- Community Speedwatch
- Pride in Bedford
- Street Champions and Junior Street Champions
- Parks Friends Groups
- Citizens Panel
- Rights of Way
Councillor Sarah Jayne Holland, Portfolio Holder for Community and Regulatory Services, said: "Community events in Bedford Borough are always well supported thanks to the dedications from many local residents.
"However, we are always keen to welcome new volunteers and we offer a range of activities and initiatives which anyone can get involved with. It doesn't matter how much time you can spare or how much work you can do, we welcome anyone who wishes to help and I hope this event in the town centre will encourage even more people to lend a hand any way they can."
As well as information stalls, there will also be a chance for visitors to 'try before you volunteer' and try out the litter pickers, help to weed and tidy the planters and even have a go with a Speedwatch camera.
There will also be activities for children too- including paper plant pot making and the chance to design a volunteer poster. The best entries will be featured in the next Pride in Bedford volunteer newsletter.
We will also be encouraging residents to sign up to the database where they will get regular updates on volunteering events, opportunities, training and schemes.
The fair is situated outside the Harpur Suite and runs 10am-3pm
