The end of our thirty-year wait for a completed western bypass has moved closer once more with our success in securing another £4.5 million from the Government for construction of the road.

As I've said here before, having removed a series of obstacles in the way of this crucial scheme for Bedford Borough, there are still issues to overcome before construction can take place, with a dispute between the Highways Agency and a nearby landowner dating back to its building of the Paula Radcliffe Way (A6 Clapham Bypass) over ten years ago still unresolved. However, we have already made significant progress on this project which has been recognised as critical in local and national plans for over thirty years, and are now much closer than ever to seeing construction take place.

This further funding boost represents more progress towards delivering this road which will do so much to bring vital jobs and economic growth for the Borough, and we will keep working to bring it forward as soon as possible and bring the Bedford's long wait for a completed bypass to an end.
