750 More Trees by the Riverside

24 Feb 2011

Work started last weekend on a new programme of tree planting which is seeing 750 new trees planted alongside the River Great Ouse, on land behind Oasis Swimming Pool.

The small trees will provide extra woodland habitat along the river corridor, and comes in addition to our planting over the winter of 139 medium sized trees at sites across the borough.

Planting more trees is good for the local and wider environment. New trees help make our neighbourhoods and our public spaces even more attractive. That's why we enabled this work to take place thanks to the extra money we put in the Council's budget, with £60,000 over three years invested in new trees.

The new trees alongside the River Great Ouse in Bedford will be a great boost for wildlife along that part of the river, and make it an even more attractive environment for visitors, walkers and river users.
