75th anniversary of the VE Day

On the 75th anniversary of the VE Day we are flying the Union Flag at both the old Town Hall and Borough Hall (although there is a lack of wind this morning).
It is sad we have been unable to come together to celebrate this, but I know many people are celebrating at home. The BBC are broadcasting a number of special programmes today and there are three main events to mark this important anniversary:
11am - The nation will pause for a two-minute silence to remember those who lost their lives during WW2
3pm - Raise a glass to the heroes of the Second World War
9pm - The Queen will address the nation followed by a live sing-a-long on BBC.
