99.8% Secured Their First Preference School
The DfE have confirmed Bedford Borough school admission success for 2014. The proportion of applicants who were offered a place at their highest preference Middle/Upper/Secondary school is 98.8%.
92.3% of pupils at Lower and Primary schools secured their first preference. Bedford Borough is far above the national average for both.
Through a vision of 'Creating Excellent Teaching and Learning Space', Bedford Borough Council is investing millions of pounds on schools builds to ensure that every child wihin Bedford Borough will have a place at school for the foreseeable future.
Cllr Henry Vann, Portfolio Holder for Education at Bedford Borough Council said "Our aim is to ensure that all pupils have access to the highest quality of education. With a national shortage of school places, we have invested heavily where it is needed most to ensure that every child has a school place. We are investing £48 million in repairs, maintenance and a nationally respected programme to scrap temporary classrooms and ensure our schools are fit to learn in."

Last year, schools in Bedford Borough were praised after the Local Authority area was recognised by Ofstead as offering one of the best opportunities in the country for children to attend a good or outstanding primary school.
