This morning was of course Macmillan Coffee Morning, a major nationwide charity event, and for me it was a reminder of the remarkable way in which local residents, groups and businesses in Bedford Borough come together to support community events and fundraising activities.

My first stop this morning was at the Bedford Corn Exchange, where I opened up the event there. Staff and their friends and families had baked homemade goodies and donated them, and they looked fantastic. Macmillan's Fundraising Manager for Bedfordshire was there, and she told me that 808 Macmillan Coffee Morning events were taking place across the County!

I managed to get to 2 out of those 808, as after that I headed down to Russell Park and the excellent Kiosk At the Park, to wish them luck for their Macmillan Coffee Morning. They had sent me a message earlier in the week asking me what my baking skills were like! I had to report that sadly I'm no baker, but having popped along there this morning to say hello it was obvious that they had received donations from people who most definitely are. It was great to see a lot of people enjoying the park and enjoying the kiosk, which has been such a fantastic addition since it opened earlier this year.
