Armed Forces Day Celebrations got underway in Bedford on Monday with a flag-raising ceremony at Borough Hall.

Armed Forces Day 2019 is Saturday 29th June, and the Royal British Legion is organising an Armed Forces Day Parade through Bedford Town Centre on Sunday 30th June.

You can see a selection of photos from the flag-raising ceremony on Mayor Dave Hodgson's Facebook page, where Mayor Dave commented:

"Thank you to the Standard Bearers and to all who took part in this morning's flag-raising to mark the start of Armed Forces Day celebrations in Bedford.'

"Armed Forces Day itself is this Saturday, and the Armed Forces Day flag will be flying proudly at Borough Hall throughout the week.'

"On Sunday the Royal British Legion's Armed Forces Day Parade takes place in Bedford Town Centre, providing us all with the chance to come together and show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets."
