Armistice Day Service 2021

Today we remember those who have given their lives or have been injured whilst serving in the armed forces.

There was a small gathering at Riverside Square this morning where a two-minute silence was observed and Standards presented.

You can see some additional photographs here and here.

We also remembered the Bedford Highlanders last weekend at the Highland Division of Remembrance at Foster Hill Cemetery, you can see some photographs here, and also find out more about the Bedford Highlanders here.

This Sunday there will be Remembrance Services and Wreath laying at War Memorials across the Borough.

This year the wreath laying and march-past will again take place at the War Memorial on the Embankment in Bedford at 11.00am, after the service the Parade will march down the Embankment finishing in Harpur Square.

Kempston Town Council have arranged a Remembrance Service at Kempston East Methodist Church on Sunday 14 November at 2.30pm, followed by a Parade to the War Memorial for the silence and the laying of wreaths.

Remembrance and Armistice events are always hugely moving as we remember the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those that have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.
