"Beating gun crime needs action not words" says Henry Vann

Liberal Democrats this week uncovered the Labour government's inept handling of sentencing with half of those found guilty of possessing a firearm not being given the supposed "mandatory" minimum sentence.

69 out of 281 people found guilty of possessing a firearm didn't receive a custodial sentence at all.

Henry Vann said:

"If the government can't even enforce a minimum sentence for serious crime, then they are not fit for purpose.

"Sentences must do what they say on the tin for all serious crime and the possession of firearms can not be overlooked.

"This empty promise needs to be uncovered for the scam it is. Labour are letting us down on fighting gun crime."
