Bedford Academy officially launched their school radio station on Monday. In attendance were Mayor Dave Hodgson, David Morris, CEO of HEART Academies Trust, Christopher Deller, Headteacher and Justin Dealey, BBC 3 Counties radio.

The radio station was the brainchild of Ms Vinette Hoffman-Jackson, BA STEM Coordinator and Radio Lead. Ms Hoffman-Jackson stated "Equipping our students with effective communication skills will lay the foundation for future successes. Our priority is to provide first class education and support to all students who attend our school through innovations and research"

Bedford Academy is part of a multi-academy trust based in Bedford. The school has over twelve hundred students on roll and offers a wide variety of subjects to cater to the wide range needs of our pupils. The radio station is just one strand in supporting the vision of an all-inclusive school that functions as an integral part of the community.

The radio station will be operated by students under the guidance of staff at the school. Debora Cipriano, a new year 7 student said she was excited about launching her own radio show on well-being whilst Yahya Chowdhury spoke of interviewing our Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the future. Tesfa Bernard a year 10 student who would one like to do Sports Journalism is exited at the prospect of presenting a sport programme.

The radio station will be web based with plans to secure a DAB license in the near future.
