This June, Bedford Borough Council is celebrating the Month of Community.

The Month of Community is a national scheme by the Eden Project; a time to come together to celebrate everything that makes our communities great.

The Council is working with lots of different partners to promote events, activities and awareness days in the Month of Community.

These include events for Neighbourhood Watch Week, Volunteers Week, Carers Week, Refugee Week and lots more.

Events and activities planned include Jubilee celebrations, litter picks, sports sessions, community events, and more.

There is a list of community events taking place throughout June on the Council's website at www.bedford.gov.uk/MonthOfCommunity

The Council is also partnering with CVS to hold the first Community Network since before the pandemic on Wednesday 6 July, 5-7pm at Borough Hall in Bedford. The event is open to anyone who is involved in the voluntary, community and charity sectors. Register for a place via the Month of Community page: www.bedford.gov.uk/MonthOfCommunity

Mayor Dave Hodgson said, "I am delighted that the Council will celebrate a variety of community activities taking place across Bedford Borough in June for this year's Month of Community, starting with street parties and celebrations over the bank holiday weekend for the Platinum Jubilee.

"There are a number of activities for people to get involved with across the month, hosted by some of our fantastic local organisations. This is a great opportunity for residents to come together and celebrate the things happening across the Borough.

"We are working with CVS Bedfordshire to host our first Community Network event since the start of the pandemic and I am really looking forward to welcoming our community, charity and voluntary sector colleagues back to Borough Hall for the event on 6 July."
