Bedford Borough Parks- Among the Best in the Country!

6 Aug 2013

It's official! Parks in Bedford Borough have been named among the very best in the country.

Addison Howard Park, Bedford Park, Priory Country Park and Harrold-Odell Country Park have all achieved Green Flag status, and for the 12th year in a row Priory Country Park has been awarded Green Flag status.

Green Flag is a national award scheme for well managed parks and green spaces administered by national environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, with support from the Department of Communities and Local Government.

Lib Dem Councillor Sarah-Jayne Holland, Portfolio Holder for Community and Regulatory Services, said: "Local residents can be rightly proud of the parks and green spaces in Bedford Borough and this recognition confirms that our parks in Bedford are among the very best in the country.

"Plenty of hard work and dedication goes into looking after and managing our parks and green spaces throughout the year and the Green Flag is excellent and well deserved recognition of all this hard work, by both staff and volunteers."
