Bedford Visitor Information Centre is Moving to the Library
Bedford Visitor Information Centre (VIC) will be moving to a new home in Bedford Central Library from March this year.
The VIC is a volunteer-run organisation working to promote Bedford to both visitors and residents, providing accurate, up to date and relevant information about visitor attractions, events and the local area. Since its launch in St Paul's Church in October 2018, the VIC has welcomed nearly 2,000 people to the VIC.
From March, this service will be moving to the ground floor foyer of Bedford Central Library. The move to the library will allow the VIC to develop and expand its services to the general public, with a larger area and increased space for displays and information.
Steve Barratt from the Visitor Information Centre said "We are very grateful to all the team at St. Paul's Church, without whose help and support the VIC would not exist. We look forward to the move to Bedford Central Library, and to working with the team at the library to expand and improve the service we can provide for residents and visitors.
Bedford Central Library is delighted to welcome the Visitor Information Centre. The Library is already a fantastic hub for activities, events and organisations in the town and we look forward to working with the VIC promoting our area.
Councillor Henry Vann, Portfolio Holder for Town Centres said ""The Visitor Information Centre is a superb, volunteer-led promoter of Bedford and in its new location it will be even more accessible and visible. I recommend people check it out, and try out some of the Bedford Tour Guides Associations walks: You will always learn something new - and I say that as a Councillor and history teacher! I look forward to the next chapter in this volunteer created asset for our Town Centre."
The VIC will be open in the Library from early March on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
