Big Walk and Wheel 2022

Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel is the UK's largest inter‑school walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling challenge that inspires pupils to be amazing and take active journeys to school.

This year Bedford Borough has over 30 schools and more than 11,000 pupils taking part. This means that for two weeks, starting from 21st March, children across Bedford Borough will be walking, cycling or scooting to school instead of going by car. This is the largest number of schools we've ever had signed up in the 6 years that this event has happened in Bedford Borough.

On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils walking, using a wheelchair, scooting or cycling to school. A school's best five days will determine their final position and schools at the top of their leaderboards will receive an exclusive Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel certificate.
