Christmas is nearly upon us, and there are a few changes to bin collections in Bedford Borough over the festive period.

Bin collections will not be carried out on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day so collections will be slightly different over this period and will return to normal by Monday 13 January.

Residents can check their regular bin collection day and any changes over Christmas and New Year by using the Council's online service at www.bedford.gov.uk/bins. It allows local residents to find their address, check when their next collection is due, and download their calendar for next year.

Residents across Bedford Borough will also have recently received a tag on their bin with the changes over the festive period, and the collection calendar for next year.

Cllr Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Transport said "So our crews don't disturb people during their festive celebrations, and so they can have a well-earned break, they do not collect bins over the Christmas and New Year bank holidays.'

"Take a moment to check when your bin collections will be over this period, and sign up to our email bulletins at www.bedford.gov.uk/stayconnected to get advice about recycling at Christmas."
