A new webcam trained on the bus station is now available via the Council's website, allowing local residents to keep an eye on this major project for Bedford Town Centre. Still images of the works, which have seen demolition on the main bus station building itself begin this week, are updated every few minutes, meaning even those who do not visit the site frequently are able to stay righ up-to-date with progress on this major development for their town.

With work on the wider project to date having included the construction of a new surface car park at Greyfriars, new public toilets and the continuing refurbishment of Allhallows multi-storey car park, the new webcam images will allow residents the best possible view of the works which will see a brand new bus station completed and opened in 2014. The webcam is available via the Council's website, here: www.bedford.gov.uk/busstation

Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "The multi million pound redevelopment of Bedford bus station is a vital project for Bedford Borough and we want local residents to be able to keep right up to date with progress.

"The cameras will provide up to the minute footage of the scheme and allow anyone to check the progress of this major development in their town centre as it continues to take shape."

Later this year, the pictures taken will be used to create time lapse sequence videos, showing the works taking shape right through to completion.
