Bringing empty homes back into use

24 Jul 2018

Bedford Council is bringing empty homes back into use, often by using Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs).

41 Compulsory Purchase Orders have been issued. In 24 cases issuing the order was sufficient to encourage the owner to bring the property back into use before it was actually purchased, in another 7 cases the action has been suspended whilst the owners try to bring the property back into use. The remaining 10 cases are a mix of having been bought back into use, currently being progressed or going through legal means.

It is important we bring as many empty homes back into use as possible. If you know of an empty home you can let the Council know here.
