Cameron's selection policy will damage children's chances - Davey

14 Dec 2005

Commenting on Conservative statements making clear that they support education reforms that would allow schools to set their own admissions policy, including selection by ability, Liberal Democrat Shadow Education Secretary Edward Davey MP said:

"As David Cameron is forced to detail what he actually stands for his mask of compassionate conservatism slips.

"Cameron's commitment to academic selection will damage disadvantaged children's chances once again.

"Parents across the country should be alarmed that Tony Blair is prepared to use Tory support to drive through reforms that will make admissions to schools even more complicated and less fair."
