Castle and Newnham Lib Dems secure new Goldington Road bus shelter
The Castle and Newnham Liberal Democrat FOCUS Team has helped to secure a new bus shelter on Goldington Road. Newnham Councillors Jake Sampson and Hilde Hendrickx, as well as Liberal Democrat candidate Tom Pattinson have worked with Bedford Borough Council to get the new bus shelter installed for residents.
Councillor Hendrickx said "At one of our regular surgeries, local bus users highlighted the lack of a bus shelter at the bus stop on Goldington Road. This new shelter will protect residents from the weather for years to come."
Since being elected in 2019, Councillor Sampson and Councillor Hendrickx have taken action to improve Newnham Ward. They have helped to tackle speeding by introducing 20mph zones in the Wendover Drive and Castle Road areas. They have also used their Ward Fund to raise kerbs at bus stops on Aylesbury Road to improve accessibility and safety. More trees and bulbs have been planted and there will now be a dedicated Bugs and Bees rewilding site at Aylesbury Road Park thanks to the councillors.
Tom Pattinson said "This is a fantastic addition to our area. I hope that it will encourage more people to use buses instead of driving. Hilde and Jake have worked incredibly hard for residents and I'm excited to carry on their legacy."
