Changes to car parking locally

To enable the Council to prioritise staff on essential duties at this extraordinary time, the opening hours of the Council's multi-storey car parks will be changing from Friday 20th March.

Lurke Street, River Street and Allhallows car parks will close at 7pm every night and open at 6am. This will be in place until further notice.

Alternative parking is available with around 1,000 spaces at surface car parks including Riverside Car Park, St Marys, St Peters, Duckmill Lane, Prebend Street and Melbourne Street, and on-street parking will be available as always.

Councillor Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for Transport said "While our multi-storey car parks will be closed from overnight from 7pm to 6am, there is still parking available in our town at surface car parks. We know that people still need to go into town to get their shopping, and we would encourage you to support your local shops and businesses, while heeding the Government advice around social distancing and keeping safe."
