Tomorrow morning, Bedford Borough residents will wake up to the Christmas lights being up on the High Street in Bedford. The lights switch-on - announced earlier in the month - will take place on Saturday 19 November at 4:30pm from Harpur Square.

Bedford Borough Council will be putting up the lights between 21:00 - 05:00 hours overnight tonight (7th to 8th November), which will see a temporary road closure on the High Street in Bedford Town Centre.

Councillor Henry Vann, the Portfolio Holder for Town Centres and Planning said "Christmas lights are on their way up - obviously not to be turned on until nearer Advent and it will be great to once again see the lights up on the High Street. Like many other residents who shop in Bedford Town Centre in the early evening, seeing the lights really gets me into the Christmas spirit and this year, we're also going to be saving energy with new timers installed, which will be on between dusk and midnight. So pop into town and Rediscover Bedford at Christmas."
