Christmas lights up the Borough
Last weekend we launched Christmas in Bedford town centre and this coming weekend we will see Christmas Lights being switched on in Kempston, Stewartby and Elstow.
Last Saturday there was a special Festive Charter Marker in Bedford town centre, rides from Gumbles amusements and music throughout the day. I then led a countdown and we turned on the Christmas tree lights in Harpur Square - you can see a video of the countdown and switch on here and some photos of Bedford's Christmas Trees here.
The Christmas Lights will be switched on in Kempston this Sunday (27th November) at 5pm at the Saxon Centre after a day of music, stalls, children's rides and entertainment from 12pm. There will even be a special guest direct from the North Pole!
Stewartby will be holding a Christmas Fair and Santa's Grotto this Saturday (26th November) at Stewartby Village Hall from 12pm to 5pm with their Christmas Light's switch-on at 4pm.
Elstow will be switching their lights on Saturday at 4pm at Abbey Fields where there will also be a Santa's Grotto, and then at 5pm the old village. Elstow also have a Christmas Fair on Sunday at the playing fields on Wilstead Road between 11am and 4pm.
Kempston's Christmas Tree Festival takes place from Friday to Sunday (25th-27th) The Church of the Transfiguration, 132 Bedford Road, Kempston, MK42 8BQ. On Friday it will be open 5-8pm, on Saturday 1:30-5:30pm and on Sunday 2-5pm. The Church of the Transfiguration also has a Christmas Fair 1:30-4:30pm on Saturday and an Advent Carol Service from 4pm on Sunday.
Bedford's Christmas Tree Festival starts next week, running from Wednesday 30th November to Sunday 4th December at St Paul's Church. There will be many special musical performances throughout the week and you can find out more at https://www.facebook.com/bedfordchristmastreefestival
Bedford's Winter Wonderland opens this Saturday (26th November) at Longholme Way and runs until 2nd January. The Winter Wonderland has amazing rides, a Big Wheel, a Christmas Tree Maze and festive food and beverages as well as visits from Santa. This year's Santa Scoot will take place this Sunday (27th November) at Great Denham Playground.
The Harpur Centre's Santa's Grotto and the Wishing Tree are now in place, so do pop along.
