Cllr Jake Sampson’s Young People’s Political Workshop Amongst Array of Free Fun Palace Activities this Weekend
BedPop Fun Palaces are back in Bedford this weekend, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October, and this year the brilliant range of free and fun art, science, craft, heritage and adventure activities includes Liberal Democrat Cllr Jake Sampson's Young People's Political Workshop.
The Newnham Ward Lib Dem Cllr, who became the youngest Member of Bedford Borough Council in May's elections, is leading an educational and interactive political session for young people at 11am on Sunday 6th October at The Higgins Bedford. The workshop will explore the fundamentals of UK politics and the role that young people themselves can play both locally and nationally.
Commenting, Cllr Sampson said: "I'm really excited about this event and talking to young people about how they can engage in politics. I'm looking forward to an open, two-way discussion on the issues that matter to them."
This year there are four Fun Palaces popping up, all taking place in Bedford's town centre and Cultural Quarter with FREE events for everyone to enjoy. The Fun Palaces will be at The Higgins Bedford, John Bunyan Museum, the Panacea Museum and Bedford Central Library.
In addition to Cllr Sampson's workshop, a diverse and exciting programme of free events includes Vox Pops challenges, calligraphy and cartography sessions, tea party poetry, brilliant board games, animal encounters, museum trails and more.
Some events need to be booked in advance but there are plenty of drop in activities to take part in on the day.
